BIO
Singer - Songwriter - Producer - Performer - Teacher - Facilitator
Angela is an accomplished multi-genre songwriter-producer-artist. Her productions are reminiscent of Bjork, Portishead and Massive Attack, and the haunting lyrics bring to mind Kate Bush, Imogen Heap and Stevie Nicks. She crafts her unique experimental sound with a chilled lounge vibe and floating vocals, undercut by effects that send shivers down your spine while intriguing lyrics reveal something darker.
Angela is also a soprano in the acclaimed Mike King Collective, one of the UK's premier contemporary vocal groups combining soulful vocals, rich jazz harmonies and captivating performances. MKC has recorded for the BBC, performed live on Channel 4, sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe and worked with some of the music industry’s biggest names including Mark Ronson, Florence + the Machine, Lily Allen and GRAMMY® world music artist Angelique Kidjo.
A teacher on the MA in Songwriting at the Institute for Contemporary Music Performance, Angela has a research interest in the application of Jung's archetypes to songwriting.
Angela also facilitates songwriting workshops for wellbeing.
She is currently working on her next album, titled "Two Silver Pennies".

DISCOGRAPHY
KALEIDOSCOPE VISIONS
Seven songs, seven very different voices, seven shades of groove.
Kaleidoscope Visions is a collection of songs produced by Angela Blacklaw and Dorriel Tulloch as Kaleidogroove and written by Angela (one co-written with Sean Dominic Grand).
The album was also seven years in the making but that's a whole story in itself!
Featured singers are Laura Janssen, Sue Wyllie, Jess Lawson, Maria Simone, Zoe Cooper James and Emma Brookes. Angela does feature on one song herself but the joy in this project comes from the diversity of vocal sound.
The album was launched in February 2023 and is now available to download on iTunes and Amazon.

THE SCALE OF LOVE AND DESTRUCTION
The Scale of Love and Destruction is a collection of nine songs. They extend across a wide emotional axis, ranging from the uncomplicated seduction of Feather Fall, through the emotional ambiguity of If I Could Feel, all the way to the dark, dramatic, destructiveness of The Last Kiss. Bittersweet, gothic, edgy and addictive...
The Scale of Love and Destruction is available for synchronisation and to buy on Bandcamp NOW. https://angelablacklaw.bandcamp.com/releases
M.K.C.
"The sheer uplifting joy and love the group exudes makes you realise that they are indeed a true musical family but also belies the incredible musical sophistication and complexity which streams through every song. The harmonic structure and musical arrangements of the material are stunning and rarely found on these shores.
The expansive repertoire takes you far beyond the expected and where other "choirs" fear to tread. MKC is a gem that we are very lucky to have!"
Ron St Louis
Angela not only sang but worked on the production for MKC's debut album M.K.C. which is available on iTunes.

VANILLA LOVE (ONE STEP REMIX)
Angela loves to experiment - House producer Priscilla Angelique worked her One Step Riddim magic on Angela's jazz/soul song Vanilla Love and their collaboration is available to buy on iTunes and Amazon.
